After Humanity: Echoes of Ijen
I got my inspiration from my trip to Ijen Volcano, Indonesia.
What I Saw?
I saw the local guide, whose knees ached from the endless days of leading tourists up an untrodden volcano, forcing him to climb slowly.
I saw people struggling to make a living, pulling rickshaws up the rugged, uneven mountainside.
I saw miners extracting sulfur from the heart of Ijen Volcano, toiling in the heat to sell their valuable commodity.
How I Felt?
I perceived inequality not only within human society, but also between humans and nature, as people recklessly exploit the Earth's resources.
I also felt a deep sense of connection between the land and its people, where human suffering intertwines with nature, especially in the absence of technology.
I felt both grief and hope—grief for the struggle, and hope for the reconstruction of the relationship between humans, non-humans, nature, and technology in the future.
What I Want to Do?
I want to reveal the existing inequality during my trip to Ijen Volcano, and imagine a harmonious future where humans, technology, and nature coexist in a balanced, restorative way through an AI generated video.
These are the photos I shot during my journey.
